What does Family Tech Defender do?
Family Tech Defender partners with families to create a safer online environment by blocking inappropriate content, creating screen time limits, and limiting access. We provide personalized support from a real person to help tailor internet safety to your family's specific needs.
Do I need to setup anything on my own?

All physical setup is handled by Family Tech Defender. We will partner with you and your specific family needs and do all the setup and any changes you need. 

What makes Family Tech Defender unique?

First and foremost is a live person to partner with you and help protect your family and your privacy. Our service was created from being parents and not being happy with the available options to protect our kids.

Is my data secure?

Yes! We cannot see data inside of packets. Example: We cannot see photos, bank info, text messages.

Do you offer referral bonuses?

Yes! We offer a $50 referral bonus. This is paid in the form of an account credit after the referral completes the first 2 months of service.

Do I need to install any apps or software for this to work?

Not at all! We handle the hardware setup and can adjust any and all rules necessary in a remote connection to the firewall itself. 

Why hardware versus software only?

As a parent trying to use other services, I found they didn't work how I wanted them to. A physical firewall offers better security and performance by using dedicated resources and operating independently of the systems it protects, making it less vulnerable to attacks. It also provides advanced features, easier management, and greater scalability compared to software-only firewalls.

How much does Family Tech Defender cost?

The base monthly service fee is $34.99 which covers unlimited devices in the network. There is an initial cost in purchasing the hardware (based on your home network and internet service provider), starting at $249, and a setup fee of $49. VPN services are an optional addition fee per device.

How does it work?

A firewall protects a network by acting as a barrier between the internal network and external sources, such as the internet. It monitors and filters incoming and outgoing traffic based on predefined security rules. The firewall examines data packets and determines whether to allow or block them, based on criteria like IP addresses, port numbers, or protocols. By blocking unauthorized access and malicious traffic while allowing legitimate communication, a firewall helps prevent cyber threats and secures the network from attacks.

Does it work on all devices?

Yes. Anything connected to your network will be protected. Mobile devices on a cellular connection can be added to a VPN service for an additional fee.

Does it monitor social media?

It does not monitor social media posts or content, but it can block/restrict access based on your family's needs.

Can I set different rules for different devices?

Absolutely! We can create custom rules for different devices and tailor it to your family's needs.

Will this slow down my internet speeds?

Any firewall has the potential to slow down internet speed but this should not be noticeable. 

Does it monitor text messages?

We currenlty cannot monitor text messages. If that is a concern we can make 3rd party recommendations.

What is your cancellation/return policy?

We offer a 30-day return window on hardware. Services require a 30 day notice of cancellation. Hardware will be factory reset upon service disconnect.

Can it limit kid's activities like gaming/video to a number of hours per day?

Yes, we can create limits for popular apps or services like Roblox, YouTube, and Fortnite. We can also limit hours when devices can access activities like gaming or video. 

What areas do you serve?

We provide service in the greater St Louis area including Chesterfield, Ballwin, Wildwood, Des Peres, and St Charles.
